Galena's Main Street is full of unique, local shops that you can't find anywhere else. Steeped in history, 75% of the town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Main Street is home to more than 125 quaint boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and bars. Below are a few of our favorites!
Shops to stop in while you stroll: The Galena Apothecary Shop is our favorite destination downtown. The luxury soaps, lotions, and unique finds are a dream. Shop the Neighborhood sells trendy clothing and accessories for Gen Z and Millenials, mostly. If you know what FLEEK means, go there! Poopsies has a variety fun gifts for adults, kids, and child-like adults. Grateful Gourmetoffers tons of kitchen gadgets for your favorite cook. The Great American Popcorn Co is the perfect gift for a foodie who is far away. Can't go wrong with Caramel Corn! River Bend Gallery displays the works of Geoffrey Mikol. He captures Galena in a way that every guest should experience.
Tastings: Galena Cellars Tasting Room offers 6 tastes for $5. SO MANY great options from sweet to dry to unique! (Jalepeno wine?! Wine Slushies?!) Galena Canning Co is Alex's favorite stop because he gets to taste every product. A must try: the Old Fashioned Apple Butter! Galena River Wine & Cheese sells delicious cheeses for your next charcuterie and cheese board. They also offer fun wine and whiskey tastings! The Great American Popcorn Co usually has warm popcorn waiting for guests as they enter the shop. You can also taste any flavor in the store! Galena Garlic Cohas rows of flavored oils, and yummy balsamic vinegars to taste. They also sell seasonings and garlic, of course.
One of the best parts about Galena's Main Street is that it changes frequently! Shops are always moving around and making way for new opportunities. Every year Galena has something new to offer on Main Street.
